This is the San Diego backcountry route I mentioned to you not long ago.

I didn't add it to the GTS site, but it's the exact route that I was thinking of.

Can't wait to do this some time.

You in San Diego as well?

This route can be extended and/or modified with several extra awesome roads.

Mesa Grande (north of Santa Ysabel) to Palomar Mountain (though that can be filled with bike squids and the CHP that follow them depending on the day/time). There's also down and up Banner Grade on the east side of Julian.

I just ran the "northern route" with BMWCCA a couple weeks ago. Count me in if you're planning a drive!

Yeah, or you could go down the 67 through Ramona. Or from the end of that route make your way down to Elfin Forest. Quite a few possibilities. I avoid Palomar, for the reasons you mentioned.

I'll let ya know!

East Grade Rd isn't bad (and I prefer it since it's a bit more flowing). South Grade is always littered with crashed bikes and CHP.
